STATEMENT OF SUPPORT
I am excited to support this venture to start a Christian university in Australia. For the past 14 years, I have had the privilege of working in Christian higher education in the USA. I have seen the tremendous impact that a Christian university can have in preparing a new generation of engineers and scientists who combine their profession and faith together as holistic professionals. By uniting a strong Christian foundation and exceptional academics, with leading faculty and staff who are committed to discipleship, lives are transformed and God’s purposes advanced. I look forward to a day when Australians have the opportunity to pursue research and education at the highest levels in a fully Christian setting.
Dr Ayers serves as Professor of Civil Engineering and is the founding faculty member of Cedarville University’s new Civil Engineering program. Before joining Cedarville, he worked at LeTourneau University for 13 years where he served as Chair of Engineering and led the development of a new Civil Engineering program at that university.
Dr Ayers was educated in Australia, earning his Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and his PhD (Civil Engineering) from the University of Southern Queensland. After graduating, he worked for several years in Australia as a research engineer developing new products for the structural engineering market using advanced composite materials. He continues to conduct research into new structural systems and materials, particularly in bridge applications.
Dr Ayers maintains an active interest in global engineering service and education. He has led several international engineering development projects since 2004. His current international work is focused on the development of comprehensive water resource strategies for remote villages in Senegal. In conjunction with these projects, Dr Ayers has also led numerous student field trips to Africa and Asia. He is active in international education, regularly conducting professional training for university students, faculty, and business professionals in Senegal.
Dr Ayers is a licensed Professional Engineering in the State of Texas and a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education, and the American Concrete Institute.
