Professional Biography

Ray’s PhD (Economics) was conferred upon him by the University of Sydney in 1981. After this, in the earlier years of his career (1985 to 1993) his ability to apply academic theory to practice was exemplified through his service in a Department of a local Government authority (Inverell) as General Manager with a budget of $45 million pa and a staff of 245 employees serving 30,000 electricity consumers. His responsibilities included preparation of the Corporate and Strategic Plan for approval by Council.

In the following decades after his early success within the corporate world, Ray’s roles included: management consultant, company advisor, board member, leadership mentor and financial controller or analysist within organisations and businesses, both secular and Christian. He was seen to be philosophically attuned to the critical importance of managing the dynamics involved in human relationships and organizational change as a catalyst for continuous improvement, corporate and cultural change.

Ray also has significant experience in conflict and dispute resolution. He worked in a formal capacity from 1995 to 2019 in Government endorsed Community Justice Centres where he co-facilitated over 890 mediations relating to various to various relational contexts such as marriage and family, property and finances, neighbourhood and corporate affairs.

Ray has been able to blend his public and private sector background with a considerable research and academic orientation. He is passionate about finding and knowing the will of God in every situation and frequently reminds others of the importance of prayer and intercession in any venture seeking to further the kingdom of God.
