Statement of Support
"During the late 1980s with Queensland under the leadership of Premier Joh Bjelke Petersen the first private University in Australia was established by an Act of Parliament in the Queensland Government. It was the Bond University on the Gold Coast which well-known yachting identity and businessman, Alan Bond, set up.
At that time, a group of Christian leaders and entrepreneurs realised the potential to establish a Christian University which would be an alternative choice to the University being established by Alan Bond. With the support of the Queensland Parliament and the approval of all of the Australian State Attorney-Generals a company called “Queensland Christian University Ltd” (QCU) was registered on 16th November, 1987.
After serving on the Board of QCU for about 20 years, it is encouraging to see that once again there is a group of people actively working towards having this company accredited by the relevant authorities so that it can operate for the purpose that it was originally established for – to be everything that any other private Australian University can be, but Christian in terms of its operational and motivational endeavours. I am privileged to still be part of this journey."
